Damn, almost a month between posts

Oh well, that happens sometimes. Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans. We've been playing a lot of World Of Warcraft recently, our friends Artie and Harriet just got hooked up too. I've been doing a lot of worrying about my sister, Lacy, but hopefully things are going better there now.

I'm blogging this morning because I'm mad at Zoo Tycoon (Tuesday mornings = WoW maintenance time) I had been working for over an hour on my Dinosaurs on the Moon zoo, when a Spinosaurus escaped. I was looking for the helicopter recovery team, who didn't seem to being doing the job that they're overpaid for. I clicked on their building, but the helicopter didn't show up. I clicked on the window for info about it, and the game crashed. If I didn't know better, I'd say this game was made by Maxis... (Oh sweet Sim Golf... so fun, so frustrating when you crash on tournament mode all the frickin' time!) And of course I hadn't saved. So the T-Rex, Plesiosaurus and Caudipetryx exhibits I had built are all gone. I think when I go in again, I'm going to start on my Ice Age area. That reminds me, Jeff and I watched Ice Age on TV last night. It was funnier than I remembered. I've also been reading through the archives of Ctrl+Alt+Delete, a very funny webcomic. Some of the first person shooter comics I skip, but they cover all kinds of video games. Mainly X-Box and PC, some GameCube.

Jeff's playing some Star Wars real-time strategy game, and I'm contemplating lunch. I'm eagerly anticipating our trip to OBX, which is in ... less than 3 months! I'd like to go see Da Vinci Code this evening, as this is our only real day off together this week. Jeff has to go in do a training at work tomorrow, when he'd normally be off. :-( So we'll see if that happens. Early showing is at 7. I hate that the Carmike in Olean doesn't show matinees during the week.

Good start to the day

My day got off to a great start today because Jeff was feeling better. He had a horrible stomachache all day yesterday. Now I just need to hope I don't catch it. I also got to see one of my all-time favorite Angel moments on TNT before work. It's the episode in Season 4 where they bring Angelus back, and he taunts Wesley about Gunn and Fred. Then Wes saves Fred from Angelus, and when she thanks him, he kisses her, and it's one of my favorite TV kisses. Way more satisfying then when Dave and Matty finally kissing on Moonlighting. God, how old am I that I remember that!

I also got to see Michelle last night for the first time since Halloween. Hopefully we will get to see each other more over the summer when she has less school work and I'm not role-playing. I'm thinking of starting a book club... my friend Danielle S. at work likes to read too, and she also lives in Bradford.

No shorts for the chubby...

Time for a little shopping rant. Male readers may want to move on. Go to Break.com, watch someone shoot a 2x4 through a wall with a potato gun, that kind of thing. It's okay, I don't mind.

When Jeff and I were in Erie shopping on Thursday, we went to a couple of clothing stores. We went to the university sports stuff store (Steve and Barry's?) with all the really cheap stuff (Jeans for $6.98!) and to Kaufmann's. There I began the inevitably futile search for a pair of shorts that respectably covers my ass and thighs. Impossible. They don't make shorts that length anymore! And I was shopping in the women's department. I even looked at shorts with a little elastic in the waistband, but they were kind of short too. So I bought 2 new pairs of capris. At least I can wear capris to work, but I find it so aggravating that I can't find shorts that cover more than just barely my ass. Grr...

Anyway, at work, so I might post more later from home.

Tan Rant

I went to the BeachHouse Tanning Salon today on my way home from work. I'm tanning because - 1. I enjoy the warmth. 2. I think I look good with a tan and it's been a long time since I had one (Damn living in Hoth), and 3. I want to have a good tan when we go to North Carolina, since I will be wearing a swimsuit a lot, and it will also help me not get burnt down there.

Anyway, the tanning bed I was given today was stupid. They all kick on about 5 minutes after you go to the room, which is always about 2 minutes before I'm all lotioned up and ready to lay down. Most of them, you can stop and then start when you are ready. Once you stopped this one, it reset itself. I blame the girl behind the counter for the first time I had to put my clothes back on over my now-greasy body and ask them to reset it. The second time was completely my fault, because she had warned me that you couldn't hit start on this bed, it would just start when the time was up. So that was the second time I had to redress and go out and ask for it to be reset. The third time I re-applied my tanning lotion, laid down, and waited. A small note here about the music in this place. Most of the time it's pop and dance pop. I don't mind too much. Today it was a lot of booty-shaking rap, which I got sick of pretty quickly. After patiently waiting while listening to the rap, the machine beeped like it was about to kick on. And then the timer zeroed out again. I had to get dressed again, and move to a different bed. This one didn't have a neck rest. But I got my 10 minutes in, scheduled for tomorrow and came home. Then I was sitting here reading MySpace stuff, randomly scratching my neck, and I come back with this yucky goo on my fingers. I had residue from the multiple applications of my bronzer.

So back tomorrow, going to up the time to 12 minutes, and hopefully there won't be any problems.

Grr... I just want to be all toasty!

So I opened up a MySpace account

I discovered some of my little cousins, some random friends from UPB, and a couple people that I haven't seen since high school are on MySpace, so I thought I'd open an account. It seems a little easier to post pictures there, and it has a lot of options. I plan to keep blogging here though. I may just link any interesting things I find in my MySpace account to here.

Anyway, last week was a good week. Wendy and Grant were here from Wednesday night through early Friday afternoon. We played Scene It, made fondue, watched Hellsing, (anime) went to Ellicottville for lunch and shopping (Watson's Chocolates!) and generally enjoyed each other's company. I really, really wish they lived closer. The menfolk played a little World of Warcraft, but I thought they showed remarkable restraint on the whole. Great breakfast Thursday, including Grant's Awesome Mushrooms, which I think I might be able to make on my own now.

Going out to dinner with Jeff tonight at Togi's, I'm going to pick him up at the hospital. Then I'm off for the next 2 days, then I work 7 in a row. We'll see how well this works out.

In other news W&G are coming tomorrow! They're staying tomorrow night and Thursday night. I've been cleaning. *pauses for everyone to stop laughing* No, really. The funny thing about when I start cleaning is, I have trouble stopping. That's why I don't do it often. I'll start picking up stuff, and then realize that the stuff it was sitting on needs dusted. Then I vacuum. Then once I dust I realize I need to vacuum again. As I was cleaning today I realized that although we have lots of seasonal decorations for Fall and Winter, we really don't have anything for Spring and Summer. I think if I have time tomorrow, I want to stop at Wal-Mart or maybe Big Lots and look for some artificial spring flowers or something like that to brighten up the place.

3rd time's the charm

You know, I've opened up Blogger Dashboard to post twice prior to now, with nothing to say. Still really don't, but I figured what the hey.

We're still working our way through season one of Battlestar Galactica. We just have the last episode to watch now, Kobol's Last Gleaming, part 2. Starbuck just stole the Cylon Raider they had captured and jumped clear back to Caprica, to fetch the mystical thing-a-ma-bobber that's supposed to lead them to Earth. I'm rather annoyed because although I found some cool Battlestar Galactica pictures on IMdB, I can't seem to view them on my computer. They're in bitmap and GIF forms. Anyone who knows a little more about graphics want to point me in the right direction?

I've been playing some World of Warcraft, but I guess I'm really waiting for Jeff to get Slogdenn, his paladin, to level 60, so hopefully we'll have more time to play together as Seersha and Slogdenn. Kharasa, my dwarven hunter, is progressing nicely. I finished up a couple quests in the Wetlands today.

I think I may get offline here and read for a bit. I don't have time to read at work anymore, and I'm still working on reading my new Starhawk book, Dreaming the Dark: Sex, Magic and Politics.

Oh, and also, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire comes out on DVD Tuesday! I'm hoping to get it for Easter. Oh, speaking of holidays I don't celebrate, Ash Wednesday was today, and today was the first Ash Wednesday in a few years I haven't seen anyone sporting the big ash mark on their forehead. Usually the first person I see with it on Ash Wednesday, I just think was clumsy that morning. Then when I see a couple more, I remember that it's the start of Lent, and some people will be giving up things, and only eating fish on Fridays. Note to self: eat a big steak on Friday.

Look, I'm posting!

-Hello everyone! Sorry I haven't posted in so long. Playing World Of Warcraft has been taking up a lot of time. I also won't be posting from work anymore since I got a new position. It means I'm off the phones most of the time, unless the lines are very busy, but it also means no downtime. I am now an Email Specialist. If you email any of the website of the three companies, I will be one of the two people answering them. I also send out emails when people's cigarettes are on backorder. I'm not sure what this means for my schedule yet, possibly more weekends. But when I work weekends it's only 9-3 anyway, so that's not too bad. And during the week it looks like my schedule will be 8-4:30, which is better because I get home earlier.

Jamie came over and we did the Bellydancing for Fitness Slim Down tape. Tonight we're going to do Basic Dance again before game. We tried the Intermediate tape in the Discover Bellydance series, but it was rather difficult. We think we should do the basic one a few more times before trying that again. But I do like the dancing tapes. My only beef with them is that in 45 minutes, they don't spend enough time going over the actual routine with you. They break down all the steps, although not in order, take you thru the routine once slowly, then once at tempo, and then once again at tempo.

Oh, and there's a new Foamy. For gods' sake people, Read your User Agreement!

I think that is all for now. Plans for the weekend include working tomorrow, and going down home on Sunday, depending on the weather and whether or not Jeff is on call.

The weekend in review

First off - Wooooo! The Steelers won the Super Bowl! It was a pretty exciting game, too. None of the commercials are really sticking out in my mind though, maybe it's just been too long since school and I don't feel the need to memorize them for analyzation anymore. A lot of the people playing World of Warcraft during the game were quite peeved about the Steelers winning. Plus a lot of them kept spelling Steelers wrong (Stealers) and it was really annoying. And I got a little tired of hearing, "The Super Bowl is supposed to be in neutral territory, but look at this crowd, this is obviously a Steelers crowd." Well of course it's a Steelers crowd, Detroit is Jerome Bettis' hometown. Neutral would have been Green Bay, or Tampa, or someplace like that. I wonder when the city for the Super Bowl is picked. I assume it has to be picked before the AFC and NFC Championship games, because there's a lot of planning involved for the host city and stadium, I'm sure. What happens if they picked Pittsburgh and then Pittsburgh went to the Super Bowl? Would they change it at the last minute? Anyone who knows more about sports want to help me out here?

We were supposed to go to Jess and Frosh's but there was a Wind and Blowing Snow advisory, and I really didn't want to get stuck in Port Allegany when I had work the next day, so Jeff and I just stayed home.

Second - We played a lot of World of Warcraft. My main character, Seersha, a human warlock, is now level 18. The spelling of the name I wanted, Saoirse, was taken, so I went with the phonetic spelling instead. I've been working on my professions, Herbalism and Alchemy. I've also been working on fishing and cooking. We used our Lunar Festival invitations (a fun in-game event involving fireworks) to travel to Darnassus, the home of the Night Elves, looking for fish recipes. I also have a Dwarven hunter with a wolf pet and a Tauren Druid named Stampedia.

Third - I don't think there is a third. I guess third would be I finished reading Etheric Anatomy and my thoughts on it should be forthcoming. What is this flower above me, and what is the work of this God? I would know myself, in all my parts - Victor H. Anderson

I am so excited about playing my warlock, Seersha, this evening! I just send her a bunch of stuff and gold from Leanora, the character I had started on Jeff's account. Once I got done selling off all her stuff she was just running between the mailbox and the bank in black bra and underwear. Leanora started to dance but Jeff told me to stop since that might earn more money, and I was trying to be done with the character.

Allison, if you don't get a phone call from me this evening please call me. I will try to remember, I need to find out for sure what time you and Grey are coming out.

Yesterday Jeff bought me my own copy of World Of Warcraft at Electronics Boutique! I am currently installing the updates for the game. We're not networked yet, I just ran the cable modem across the room to my desk for now, but I'll have my own account, and come this weekend, we should be able to all play together. I am so excited!

In other good news, Jamie came over to bellydance today and she brought my birthday present with her. It's a pretty necklace with my birthstone. :-) I also got my birthday present from Jeff's mom and dad, it's the Discover Bellydance box set from Veena and Neena. These are more instructional dance tapes than workout tapes, they teach you a belly dance routine, but they look like fun! I also helped Jamie make up her character for Jeff's Wild West Werewolf game.

So it has been a good day, and I'm actually looking forward to this week at work, since: one, it's the end of the month, things are always slower, and two, I'm only working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, then I have Thursday off (for my birthday) Friday off, I work 6 hours Saturday and then I am off on Sunday. Plus I get to see Al and Grey this weekend, if all goes according to plan.
