"I like hot dogs as much as the next guy, as long as the next guy isn't Bob." - Miller.
Our supervisor, Bob, eats 4 hot dogs for lunch every day. Each hot dog has a different condiment on it. It's simply amazing. I don't know where he puts them either, he's not a big guy.
Work has been interesting of late. They changed my schedule on me. I'm supposed to have Sundays and Mondays off, but I am probably going to switch to Fridays and Saturdays, so that I can have two days off in a row with Jeff rather than 1 each week.
I think it's time to work some mojo and print up some new resumes.
We went to see Hannibal Rising this evening. I just finished the book this morning, and I thought the movie stayed true to the story of the book, even though some parts were edited out. The woman who plays Lady Murasaki is beautiful, I think she was also in Memoirs of a Geisha. Ah yes, looking at the link I just added, she played Hatsumomo.
I think that will be all for now, it's been a long week and I'm looking forward to two days off with my hubby.

I am the Anti-Cupid
I am linking this article from MSN by Laura Gilbert, which explains some of the very good reasons to hate Valentines Day.
I agree wholeheartedly with this article. I think far too many women let themselves get worked up over this pipe dream of a perfect, romantic Valentine's Day. They end up terribly disappointed and angry, when they usually didn't tell their man what they wanted in the first place. Because they are all supposed to morph into a combination of Fabio, Don Juan and Elvis on February 14th. A guy might have thought he was doing great by bringing home a dozen roses, when his wife or girlfriend wanted to go out to dinner at a nice restaurant, where a box from her favorite jeweler came out with the dessert. Valentine's Day emphasizes all the negative sexual stereotypes in our society. Women are sending the message "If you buy me nice things, nookie is guaranteed!" This lets men think that what women really want is to be taken care of, and that our bodies are their reward. The goal of equality women been working towards for hundreds of years is completely abandoned in a chocolate bon-bon and conversation heart induced sugar high. And if he even gets close to giving her the Valentine's Day she wanted, she will put up him leaving dirty socks on the bathroom floor, not calling when he's going to be late, and generally acting like a stereotypical 1950's husband the rest of the year.
We are not hardwood floors, ladies. Don't let him lay you right once and then walk all over you!
And men are forced to try to be both the caveman who brings home the biggest woolly mammoth (i.e. the most expensive gift) and the sensitive creative modern man who can access his inner goddess and pick the perfect romantic present. I imagine it must be very stressful for them. I know Jeff is rather relieved that I abhor this holiday and want no part of it. And that I really mean it and it's not a trick.
So then we've also added all of this romantic/relationship stress to the normal stress of every day life. For example, this year, Valentine's Day falls on a Wednesday. Sure, let's stick the kids with the baby-sitter on a school night, eat in a crowded restaurant, where we're getting rushed because someone is waiting for our table, drink a bottle of expensive champagne so that we can be hungover, tired, and cranky for work on Thursday. The true goal of the holiday is to make people who are involved in relationships spend as much money as possible.
So do I think romance is bad? I am against love? No, of course not. I love love. I am married to the man I love so much it makes my heart overflow. But I want to make sure he knows that every day, and I want to feel like I am loved and respected every day. And I am loved and respected everyday. Not just on February 14th, because of an old tradition that promotes outdated ways of thinking and that has been commercialized to the point where it makes me nauseated thinking about it.

I love Outland
Where gold falls from the sky like rain drops... I've made 50 gold just doing some quests in Outland the past couple days. Maybe that epic mount isn't as far off as I had thought... I've played in Hellfire Peninsula, Zangarmarsh, and I've gotten a peek at Terrokar Forest. I was thinking of picking up one of the Worgs in Terrokar Forest as a new pet, but I have noticed that my bear isn't leveling very quickly. It's probably because they don't get quest XP. I think I need to do some grinding to help them level. And grinding is good, because grinding = gold.
Well, that portion of the post really only made sense to anyone who plays World of Warcraft.
Although I am loving my Burning Crusade, I find that the PS2 is singing a siren song to me. It's accompanied by my co-worker Jason, who is playing Dragon Quest VIII. It sounded really fun, and I liked Dragon Warrior VII for the PS One, which was made by the same people. Then I looked up the X-Play review of Dragon Quest VIII and it got a 5 out of 5 from Morgan and Adam, which is rare. So now I think I must get it, although I'm going to have to figure out how to go without sleep to play a new RPG, Warcraft, and work at the same time.
Well I am at work, so that's all you get for now. Merry Part and Blessed Be!

Happy Birthday to me!!
Today is my 27th birthday. It's been a pretty good day despite being at work. I had pizza logs for lunch and Sarah sang "Happy Birthday" to me. Barring a blizzard, I plan to be down in West Hickory tomorrow.
Lots of work to do, so I'll end this here.

Crank and The Covenant
Last night Jeff and I rented some movies and got pizza from the pizza place by Beefeater's. First we watched The Covenant. Jeff had heard good things about it, and I had heard bad, so I wasn't expecting too much. The movie was somewhere between okay and pretty good. If it was a video game and I was on X-Play, I'd give it a 3 out of 5. The plot was simple, but it had some good special effects. I thought at times they could have done more with the plot and saved a little on their effects budget. Seeing two guys blast each other around is only interesting for so long. Basically it was an action movie, with magic. The main character, Caleb, was very likable. They are all rich kids in this little New England town, but despite driving a BMW and having "The Power", Caleb is a pretty responsible guy. He takes care of his family. He's not cocky and arrogant, and he didn't get the girl by throwing money or magic around. He's obviously completely fictional, since he's both rich and powerful and not a complete asshole.
So as "magical" movies go, I liked it much better than The Craft, but less than Practical Magic. I can see an interesting prequel and possibly sequel coming from this movie. There's a lot of back story they hint at regarding the founding of the Covenant which would be interesting for a prequel set in the 1600's. Also at the end of the movie, we are not entirely certain what happened to the villian, which always makes for a good sequel. I hate sequels where we ended the first movie with the villian definitely dead, and they somehow come back. I think it's why I don't care for the Nightmare on Elm Street movies or really any from that genre. Anyway, I digress, onto the second movie.
We also watched Crank, with Jason Statham. This was a great action movie; very fast paced, with both funny scenes and gory moments of violence. Statham's character, Chev Chelios, is hit with a needle full of an obscure and deadly Chinese drug that causes your heart to stop by blocking your adrenal receptors, or something like that. (it's explained better in the movie, I just can't remember the exact details myself) This is retribution for killing a prominent Chinese gang leader, Don Kim, several days before. He goes after the man who shot him up with this stuff, a low level gang flunky named Ricky Verona. Throughout the movie, Chev has to come up with ways to keep his heart pumping or he'll die. He does drugs, picks fights, raids an ER crash cart for ephenephrine, steals cars, and sticks his hand in a waffle iron. I also enjoyed Chev's girlfriend, Eve, played by Amy Smart. You may remember Amy from Road Trip, or as Tasty Coma Wife from Scrubs. She is clueless that her boyfriend is involved in organized crime for most of the movie, and it's really funny when she finds out.

Substituting movie quotes for a real post
Memorable Quotes from PCU (1994)
Katy: What about Naugahyde Windpipe?
Cecilia: Too metal.
Raji: Oedipus and the Mama's Boys.
Cecilia: Too college radio.
Deeje: My Johnson Is 12 Inches Long.
Cecilia: Interesting, but I don't think it's a band name.
Droz: Yes! That's the beauty of college these days, Tommy! You can major in Game Boy if you know how to bullshit.
Droz: Ok, now it's true, the majority of students today are so cravenly PC, they wouldn't know a good time if it was sitting on their face, but there's one thing that will always unite us and them. They're young. They may not realize it yet. They've got the same raging hormones, the same self-destructive desire to get boldly trashed and wildly out of control. Look out that window! That's not a protest! That is cry for help! They're begging us...
[shouts]
Droz: Please have a party! Feed us drinks!
[Continues shouting]
Droz: Get us laid! Aahhhhhh!
Jock #1: [at a party] What's up, babes?
Womynist #1: Pack up your rape culture and take a hike!
Jock #1: [holds up a beer] You want a brewdog?
Womynist #1: We're not interested in your penis!
Womynist #2: Wait, wait, I think he's offering us a beer. [turns to jock, speaks slowly]
Womynist #2: Um... Yes. We, would like, a beer.
Jock #1: Okay! [turns around to get a beer]
Womynist #1: So it's like, if you're nice to them, they *bring* you things?
Womynist #2: Exactly.
I love this movie, and I don't think I own it, and I think that I need to own it. I also love Jeremy Piven, and I think that the face that Smokin' Aces is coming out on my birthday Friday is a present from him to me.
I did not do yoga this morning, as I was up til 11:30 playing my dranei paladin.

Sweat
I am dripping with sweat, but I feel good. I just did my Veena and Neena Slim Down workout for the first time in months. I've done other exercise on and off, like Yoga and Pilates, but I have only done the Slim Down tape once since last spring. I got through all of it without stopping;, I think the belly dance workshop I attended at Pagan Pride Day in Erie this summer really helped. My form is better now, and I'm not flailing about so much.
I plan to start doing my Yoga and Pilates DVDs again soon, but I fell on some ice last week. I'm ok, but I've got a big bruise on my left knee that makes rolling around on the floor a bit uncomfortable. Hopefully I can get up early tomorrow and do workout one of my Louise Solomon DVD, as it's all stuff lying on your back so it won't hurt my knee. I need to work on getting my flexibility back, I'm not looking forward to trying to do this:

You want drama? Forget TNT!
Come to work at Synergy Business Management! Today, the beotch who got our cool call center managers, Jeremy and Dan, fired, came back to work. She will now be working in I&O (inventory), even though there weren't any positions open there (that we were aware of) I'm quite sure Amber ran to Jim and said she was being abused, etc. Really, unless stuff was happening outside of work that I'm unaware of, she was just being ignored. And there is nothing that bothers attention seeking little beotches more than being ignored. The group of people she'll be working with now are also really unhappy about having her Snitchiness forced on them. So, with a little luck, hopefully we'll be seeing the back of her soon.
Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out!
I've also brought my Llewellyn 2007 Witches Calendar into work. It's gotten a couple compliments. I think I need to order a 2nd one for at home.
Burning Crusade comes via UPS today, don't look for any updates for a while. I plan to start 2 new characters, a dranei and a blood elf. Plus, now my level 60 hunter can explore the new area, Outland. It's going to be so awesome!

I've been a bad blogger, I know
In my defense, I was away for a week, and it's been very busy since. I will post my full thoughts on Disney and some pics soon hopefully, but today I am blogging about work.
We just found out this afternoon that our two call center managers, Dan and Jeremy, will no longer be with the company. No explanation has been given to the remaining staff or management. A lot of my co-workers are very upset about this, as they were close to Dan and Jeremy. I am unhappy, as they were good guys to work for. Dan especially was always great about being very flexible with my schedule when needed. I am more concerned as to what this means for the future of my job, and how it will affect working here. I know Dan and Jeremy were largely responsible for the fairly open and laid back atmosphere I have enjoyed while working here.
Well, all I can do for now is cross my fingers and hope for the best, since there's no additional information forthcoming.

The Hipster
Today I went to Erie with Jeff and my Mini-Me and finished up our Christmas shopping. We got to have lunch at Max and Erma's (and eat fresh chocolate chip cookies!) with Allison, Grey and Jessika. It was cool to get to meet Jessika, I was sorry we didn't get to meet NoJim. Maybe next time kiddo. We went to Borders, and the mall, and Best Buy. At Best Buy, I was mesmerized by the clarity of a high definition TV and the amazing sound of a surround sound system. I want.
Anyway, I'm eating DiGornio pizza and waiting to get into WoW. Waiting to get into WoW is worse than Waiting for Godot. Take the Sundance quiz, it's fun.

Twist her like a pretzel
Last night I did the first two workouts on one of my new Yoga DVDs and watched part of the third. I feel like I followed along all right, although it was a little overwhelming at first. I don't know the names of the different yoga positions, and the instructor was moving very quickly between them at first. But the nice part of a DVD is I can just stop the disc and go back. I think if I was taking a class I might get embarassed if I couldn't keep up. I felt great when I was done working out, my muscles were very warm and loose. I feel a little stiff this morning, but it's bearable. I can't wait to try out the other DVD, Yoga for the Core. It works on the abs and butt, and those are two areas I feel need a little work.

Busy Work
I love getting paid $11 an hour to do something a monkey could do. Right now I am going through a stack of papers and putting customer's Driver's License numbers and birthdates on their accounts. Since I am not a monkey, I am doing this while listening to The Recipe and blogging.
"Captain Crunch is telling me/to take that shit less seriously/I'll serenade the moonshine/and love you through my bones" - The Recipe, Song: Bonemeal, CD: Night of the Porch People
I've got busy work to do at home tonight too, I want to do some laundry and finish the dishes. We're planning to use the deep fryer to make supper, so I want to try my new Yoga DVD before Jeff gets home to try to off-set my greasy dinner.
On my way to work this morning, I reflected on how nice it is to be awake in the morning and get to see the sunrise on my way to work. I have a better sense of time passing, the seasons changing, the Wheel turning. Every morning on my drive, that minute or two when everything is pink and golden happens a little later, and I get to see a different hillside, or group of trees, bathed in that light. And in the spring, that time will get earlier and earlier, revealing new buds on the trees and blooming flowers along the roadside. It's nice to appreciate time once in awhile instead of cursing how there never seems to be enough of it.

Coyote Sighting
This morning on my way to work I saw a coyote to my right, on the north side of Rte 86. Since I can count on one hand the number of times I've seen a coyote in the wild (2 including this morning), it was pretty special. I'm not someone who goes around looking for omens or signs all the time, but I do try to take notice when I see something out of the ordinary. When I get home, I'll pull out Animal Speak and see what Coyote means. I know his general associations are humor, tricks, teaching wisdom with mischief.
Speaking of divination and magickal things, one of my Tarot decks has gone missing. It's my round Motherpeace deck that Janis gave me. Jeff thinks I gave it away to someone, but I don't remember doing that. If you are reading this, and I gave it to you, I don't intend to take it back, but I'd like to know if you have it, just so I can stop looking for it.
Anyway, I'm at work as always, so I need to keep this short. Merry Part and Blessed Be!

Weekend Update
Jeff and I had a nice weekend off together. Saturday we went to the Lighthouse for lunch and did some shopping at Big Lots and Wal-Mart. We went to the new Bradford Subs and Pizzeria near Beefeaters for dinner. The pizza was pretty good. The bathroom had one of those waterfall pictures that makes bird noises, and I've always thought those were annoying. They had one at the Chinese Buffet in Olean that we used to go to, before they started having problems with roaches.
Yesterday I misplaced the remote control for the TV in the living room, so we watched a lot of DVDs. We watched Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Star Wars Episode III: The Return of the Sith, and Blade III. We also had Adam, Harriet and Artie over for barbecue chicken, and to play Three Dragon Ante. It was a fun time, even though in the first game of Three Dragon Ante, Adam beat me on the last hand and one the game by 2 gold.

Thanksgiving
I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving yesterday. I drove to West Hickory and spent the day with my family. I ate turkey, mashed potatoes, pie, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, baked corn and stuffing. Everything was wonderful. I am thankful for my husband, our home, our friends and our family. I am also thankful I was not in any of the marching bands in NYC yesterday. They got very wet.
I'd also like to wish a happy birthday to my sister Lacy. Her Birthday was November 21st.
I'm at work so I'll end this here. Merry Part and Blessed Be!

Bird Watching
Posting from work again. We've got two little chickadees in the building. That's not a metaphor. There are little birds flying from rafter to rafter and singing. I think it's nice. My team lead is worried about getting pooped on. Muggles.
Last night, we went to see Big Love, starring Hilary Gonzales, Adam Hirt, and a bunch of people I don't know. The show was wonderful. In the show there was dancing, singing, stunts, and bloody murder. One of the stunts went a little awry. The premise of the show is that 50 brides, who are all sisters, flee from their home in Greece on their wedding day. Their 50 grooms follow them to Italy. The grooms are airlifted in and repel down to the terrace of the home where the brides are seeking refuge. One of the groom's repelling line didn't come down as far as it should have and he ended up dropping about 7 feet to the stage. He wasn't hurt and the show went on, but it made the scene even tenser than it should have been. The music in the show was wonderful, Dr. Ewert said he would burn me a copy of the soundtrack.
I liked the script Dr. Ewert chose, it was a little out here, as all of Dr. Ewert's choices are, but it had a good message about whether we accept the world as it is and live in it as best we can, or whether we reject the messed up world that is presented to us and try to change it. And how far are we ultimately willing to go to change it? And at the end of the show, love is declared to be the highest law. There were two scenes in the play where I felt like power was raised in the theater. The first is a scene where they are preparing for the wedding, bringing in the cake and presents, and one of the house guests, an Italian lothario named Leo and his friend, are encouraging the brides to embrace life and take a chance at finding love. They dance and circle around the stage, and the music is very up tempo. The energy was very raucous and joyous, and at the same time, made you feel like drinking wine in the late afternoon, with the warm sun toasting your body. It felt like energy to invoke Pan or Bacchus. During a scene just before the end of the play, the energy is darker, and distinctly female. It made you want to rise up and take vengeance. This energy felt like it would invoke, Kali, the Morrigan, Maat or the Cailleach.
I'm at work and I've already spent more time on this than I meant to. I plan to see the show again on Sunday. Merry Part and Blessed Be!

Tiny Green Puppy
I dreamt I was in a house with lots of black cats. All of them were trying to rub up against me and jump in my lap. I was trying to avoid them. I didn't want my allergies to act up, and I was a little afraid of them. The cats became more and more aggressive, jumping off of furniture into my arms. Jeff was sitting in the room watching TV and he kept telling me to calm down. I ran out of the living room of the house into the kitchen. The kitchen was kind of small, the walls were of shiny wood, polished oak. There was a little green puppy on the floor, eating out of one of the cat bowls. I picked him up and he fit into my hand. He had long ears, and he was light green and his hair was very short. He crawled into my sleeve and laid down. When I pulled him out of my sleeve, I found out he'd left me a little puppy present in there. But I wasn't angry, because he was adorable.
When I woke up, I thought the puppy was a fairy puppy.
I also did a Faery Oracle reading before bed last night. It was the only card deck I could find. I think the faeries are hiding my other decks. I drew O That Gnome, Faeries of the Future, and the Topsie Turvets.
The reading indicates that something is stirring, and there's an opportunity ahead. I just need to be able to plan wisely and take it. I have to take action to take it, it isn't something that will fall into my lap. The Topsie Turvets also indicate that I need to be prepared to look at things from someone else's point of view.
Okay, at work so this ends here. Merry Part and Blessed Be!
